Business Overview
The Stepped Wedge & Gauge™ is a new hand tool designed to make the fit-up and its inspection faster and more consistent. Put this tool in the hand of any welder, pipe-fitter, pipe-liner or inspector, and they understand the value it adds instantly.
The Problem
As a fabrication pipe-fitter, I watched many apprentices and journeymen struggle with fitting a consistent gap and land. I’ve seen arguments break out on-site between fitter, welder and quality controller on this topic. I noticed there was so much room for improvement.
The Solution
I had a machinist friend fabricate a steel prototype for me and I immediately noticed the need for this tool in the industry. I understood the need to display this prototype in a cost effective manner, so I got in touch with 3D Print Western.
In a matter of days, I had numerous perfect replicas in-hand and was showing them to potential licensees and customers. I was able to display my product to large companies without an expensive full production run.
